Building long lasting partnerships is crucial to a business’ success. We are very proud of the dedication, hard work, and support we receive from Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc. (BLDC).

Since 1973 Big Lakes has been serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Clay, Geary, Pottawatomie, and Riley counties.

It is our pleasure to employ several Big Lakes’ clients in various capacities.

In 2017 Charles joined our team as a general cleaner. He enjoys greeting our guests  and ensuring the lobby is clean and welcoming each day. You may have noticed his smiling face at other businesses in Manhattan over the years, such as Pizza Hut. Charles is an active member of Special Olympics, participating in both basketball and volleyball.

Jason works on a team with other Big Lakes clients who service our guest rooms. He has over five years of experience in the hotel industry, and is proud of the cleanliness his team achieves working together. Jason has a vibrant personality and enjoys helping at his church. One of his favorite parts about working at the Bluemont is welcoming guests as they enter the hotel.

As government support decreases and competition for limited philanthropic funds increases, gifts become a critical part of funding. A separate but affiliated nonprofit corporation, the Big Lakes Foundation, Inc., is established to solicit, encourage and facilitate the contribution of funds for fulfilling Big Lakes’ mission.
